Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) National Blueprint

Do you have a story to share about your child with a disability and your family?

Perhaps a suggestion to Government about ways they can improve early childhood developmental services and supports?

Our National Blueprint Project Team, led by Anna McCracken, are traveling Australia listening to stories, experiences and bold ideas in order to write the first ever ten year plan for children with disability in their early years and their families. We are also hosting virtual chats so you can share your story and knowledge from wherever you are via this link.

We can't wait to share a virtual cup of tea and change the world together through story, wisdom and community led ideas. Please share the link above or the brochure below widely amongst your network and help us build a road map that provides every child and every family every possibility to reach their potential.

About the Blueprint

Australia’s Early Childhood system is a complex landscape. For children with additional needs and their families this period of their lives is often described as confronting, difficult and confusing, with no less than 10 service systems to coordinate and navigate.

The Commonwealth Government have tasked Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA) with the design and delivery of the first National Blueprint for Early Childhood Intervention. This blueprint will provide a clear framework, to 2030, to support the development of children to optimise social and economic outcomes for children aged 0-6 years with developmental delay and/or disability and support their families in a broad range of evidence informed and innovative approaches.

The Blueprint will also support the success of the specialist early childhood intervention sector. It will focus on clearly articulating the needs and wants of families, at this very key time in their lives, to support the early childhood intervention market, given its specialised nature, to maximise its reach and impact outcomes for the estimated 115,000 Australian families every year who support a very young child with additional needs – as well as enhance the NDIS’ ability as an insurance scheme to reduce its medium to long-term liability.

The National Blueprint Project provides the opportunity for ECIA, as Australia’s premier peak body for early childhood intervention to assist the Government and the NDIA to create a clearer framework to ensure every child is well supported and benefits from the investments all Governments make in early childhood development.

We are pleased to have appointed Anna McCracken to lead the Blueprint Project. Anna’s extraordinary depth of knowledge and talent, underpinned by her personal values, will ensure that collectively we deliver a meaningful national framework that will transform lives – ensuring that every child has every possibility to reach their full potential.
