Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA) Ltd is the national peak body for early childhood intervention professionals, and represents its members in each state / territory and at a national level in advocating for the rights of young children with developmental delay and disability, and their families, to have access to high-quality early childhood intervention services and supports.

Over the last 18 months ECIA has transitioned from a federated state / territory based organisation into a national single entity company limited by guarantee. We are registered with the ACNC as a Health Promotion Charity.

The opportunity

We are seeking engaged and motivated individuals to join our voluntary Board of Directors to support the company during this growth phase following on from our recent restructure.

The board is seeking people with extensive legal skills and experience who have lived experience with, or are passionate about, children with developmental delay and disability achieving the best outcomes in life.

We are also seeking persons to join the board with extensive skills and experience in market / social research and / or program evaluation in the fields of early childhood intervention, early childhood education and care or disability to provide support and input to the team and Advisory Committee in advocacy activities.

What we support

ECIA endorses a framework of evidence-based practices that promote, encourage and support principles that drive positive outcomes for children and families. These are articulated in the National Guidelines for Best Practice in Early Childhood Intervention covering 4 quality areas of family, inclusion, teamwork and universal principles which are underpinned by eight key best practices.

ECIA provides a national focus and forum for early childhood intervention, promoting the public profile of early childhood intervention, facilitating effective liaison and collaboration in the community and with other peak and government bodies, and fostering quality information and service provision. Our services include organisation of seminars and workshops for professionals and families, and a national conference, and advocacy activities such as development of policy positions, statements and submissions to government.

Our head office is located in Sydney and we are governed by a board comprising of between five (5) and nine (9) voluntary directors. The board meets every two (2) to four (4) months predominantly via video conferencing with at least one face to face meeting per year. This opportunity is open to persons residing in Australia.
