About Treehouse (Queanbeyan Children’s Special Needs Group) 

Treehouse is a not-for-profit organisation that supports children with special needs and their families. Our team is growing and we now have an opportunity for a professional to join our team for an exciting new program. The Start Strong Pathways Program is a three-year program which has been developed to support children transitioning from play-based therapy groups into a mainstream preschool environment. We need a qualified, professional individual to assist in the development and delivery of the program.

The role

  • A part or full time Program Coordinator to develop and run the Start Strong Pathways Program.
  • To deliver a service that will transition children aged 3-5 with a disability to a mainstream preschool.
  • Capacity building for parents and preschool staff to assist in the transition and enable active participation in the preschool environment.  
  • Establish strategies to develop children's ability to engage in a mainstream preschool setting.
  • Collaborate effectively with therapists, teachers and parents to ensure positive outcomes are achieved.

Essential criteria:

  • Tertiary qualifications in early childhood or related discipline
  • Experience in working with children with development disabilities and their families
  • Understand family centred practice
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A current Working with Children’s Check (or the ability to obtain one)
  • Current driver’s licence, first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and CPR certificate

Desirable criteria:

  • Experience in delivering programs which meet the needs of families and preschool staff to facilitate the growth and development of all children.
  • Confidence in coordinating the Start Strong Pathways to Preschool Program and ability to reflect and improve practices.
  • A natural, warm and enthusiastic leader ready to motivate a team of educators.
  • Dedicated to creating friendly and caring learning environments.
