Aboriginal Coordinator - ECEI

Lifestart is an NDIS Partner in the Community delivering the Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) approach to children aged 0-6 years inSouth Eastern Sydney, Sydney, Nepean Blue Mountains, Illawarra Shoalhaven and Central Coast LGAs.

About the Role 

ECEI Coordinators play a pivotal role as the first point of contact for children with additional needs and their families entering or transitioning to the NDIS ECEI approach.   

As a Lifestart ECEI Coordinator, you willperform a range of functions including:

  • Being the first point of contact for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their children who have concerns about their child’s development 
  • Assessing children aged 0 – 6 years and providing recommendations for early intervention supports and services families can access for their child and themselves
  • Engage with and build strong collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific community services.
  • Connect with and provide support to mainstream and specialist services to assist them with inclusive practices for children with additional needs  
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team and support colleagues to work effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families’
  • Maintain accurate records, attend planning meetings and prepare reports in accordance with NDIS stipulations

ECEI Coordinators need to be flexible in a regularly changing environment.  This is a contracted position to June 2020. 

Requirements:

  • Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander including sound knowledge of the community’s culture and heritage. 
  • Tertiary Qualifications in early childhood education, allied health, social work or social sciences
  • Experience delivering services and support in disability services, particularly to children, or early childhood intervention 
  • Knowledge of NDIS, individualised planning and funding options
  • Hold a current drivers licence and access to a vehicle, to perform the role

Applicants must hold a valid Working with Children clearance and successfully undertake pre-employment police check.
