About the Role

Lifestart will be delivering services under the NSW Department of Education under the Start Strong Pathways initiative. The Start Strong Pathways program will help provide educational supports for very young children prior to preschool enrolment, strengthen the engagement of children within these services, and help promote the importance of early childhood education to parents.

We are seeking an Early Childhood Educator to be a part of our small, dynamic team supporting a responsive and integrated model where staff respond to the individual needs of each child with a disability or additional needs and their family/carers in order to connect and engage them with early learning opportunities outside the home and support pathways to preschool. Focus areas will align with the three core objectives of the Start Strong Pathway program:

  • support educational engagement of children too young to receive a preschool education
  • support pathways to preschool
  • promote the importance of early childhood education to parents and communities

This is a contracted position to 30 June 2020 supporting the North West and Hills region of Sydney.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:

  •  An Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or similar
  •  Demonstrated experience working in the early childhood sector
  •  Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities or additional needs and their families/carers
  •  Demonstrated ability to work flexibly in response to families’ individualised needs and priorities
  •  Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and empathically with families from diverse cultural backgrounds and complex needs
  •  Valid Working with Children Check Clearance
  •  Successful pre-employment police check
  •  Hold a current drivers licence and access to a vehicle, to perform the role

Sound knowledge of the National Guidelines for Best Practice in Early Childhood Intervention and Early Years Learning Framework is desirable.
