2010

The Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA) 9th Biennial National Conference 2010 was held in Canberra 20-22 May. The conference was very successful and attracted 424 delegates and exhibitors. The presentations were of a high standard and we would like to thank all presenters for contributing to the conference and sharing their knowledge and expertise.

The keynote speakers were: Professor Gerry Mahoney (US), Gail Van Tatenhove (US), Denise Luscombe (Aus) and Professor Margaret Sims (Aus). The conference was officially opened by Ms Annette Ellis MP and was also addressed by The Hon Kate Ellis MP. Evidence-based Practice and Practice-based Evidence

International Keynote Speakers: Professor Kofi Marfo (College of Education, University of South Florida), Dana Brynelson (Provincial Advisor of the Infant Development Programmes of British Columbia, Canada), Dr Virginia Buysse (Senior Scientist at the FPG Child Development Institute, and Associate Professor in the School of Education at The University of North Carolina), and Patricia Wesley (Senior Scientist at the FPG Child Development Institute at The University of North Carolina).

Early Childhood Intervention:
Whose Landscape is it?

The theme Early childhood intervention: Whose landscape is it? is intended to reflect the diversity of family experiences, service delivery models, policy perspectives and inclusive practices within early childhood intervention. The focus of the Conference is on the benefits that the provision of inclusive, positive, community-oriented opportunities bring for children with additional needs and their families.

Building Cohesive Communities for Children and Families

ECIA Victorian Chapter host the sixth national conference at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne Victoria.


2002

Beyond the Rhetoric
Community Responsibilities in Early Childhood Intervention

ECIA Tasmania hosts the fifth national confernce at the Hotel Grand Chancellor, Hobart, Tasmania.

Keynote Speaker was Mary Beth Bruder, PhD, Department of Paediatrics, University of Connecticut Health Centre.


2000

Supporting not Controlling:
Strategies for the new Millenium

This conference was attended by over 300 delegates. The host Queensland Chapter is to be congratulated on an excellent three day program which provided plenty of opportunities for professional development, information sharing and fun.
