Early Childhood Intervention Australia Ltd (ECIA) is the peak national organisation promoting the interests of young children with developmental delay or disability, their families and communities.
ECIA provides a national focus and forum for Early Childhood Intervention, promoting the public profile of Early Childhood Intervention, facilitating effective liaison and collaboration in the community and with other peak and government bodies, and fostering quality information and service provision. Services include organisation of seminars and workshops for professionals and families, and a national conference every two years, as well as advocacy activities such as development of policy positions and submissions to government.
Membership with ECIA is open to professionals working in the field of early childhood intervention, academics, students, families and carers or anyone with an interest in the care and inclusion of children with developmental delay and/or disability.
The restructuring of ECIA from a state / territory based federation model to a national single entity company limited by guarantee is being implemented using project management methodologies, and an external provider, Effective Governance, has been engaged to advise and support the project.
Effective Governance is part of the HopgoodGanim Advisory Group and is the largest and oldest specialist corporate governance advisory firm in Australia. Their mission is to deliver measurable value to their clients by assisting them with their governance, strategy and risk needs. Internally the project is managed by the ECIA Manager, Business and Support Services.
The project has the full support of the ECIA National Council and its current Chapters being NSW/ACT, SA, QLD, WA and the NT.
In August 2017 ECIA VIC/TAS resigned its membership to the National body and as such is no longer a chapter member of ECIA nationally.
In November 2017 ECIA held a strategic planning weekend with 17 participants representing all states and territories, and developed a three year strategic plan which will run from 2018 - 2021. Click here for the ECIA Strategy on a Page.
In March 2018 the chapter members adopted a new constitution, and ECIA was registered with ASIC as a company limited by guarantee in May 2018. Click here to view the Constitution.
